“IT’S important for the families to feel that these two young women – Sian and Becky – are being remembered.
“That people know their names and for their memories to go on.
“It’s also important because it asks the question Steve Fulcher asks at every turn in real life:
‘If this was your daughter, what would you want to happen?’
“The answer I think every single person watching it would give would be, ‘I’d want someone like you to be on the case.’”
Martin Freeman talking to me about his role as Detective Superintendent Steve Fulcher in A Confession.
A powerful six part drama which begins on ITV at 9pm on Monday (Sept 2).
Written by Jeff Pope, it tells the real life story of how Steve Fulcher deliberately breached police procedure and protocol to catch a killer, a decision that ultimately cost him his career and reputation.
Also highlighting the Swindon murders of two young women – Sian O’Callaghan and Becky Godden-Edwards – and how police tracked down their killer Christopher Halliwell.
